I am a retired professor of biology at Cornell College presently teaching one course per year, Iowa Plant Communities (Bio 320) in first term. My botanical training was at Iowa State University where I did research on germination and establishment of prairie grasses and forbs. Coming to Cornell in 1967 I taught the botany courses plus intro biology and evolution. My interests in prairie ranged from management concerns including prescribed burning, to prairie reconstruction, to roadside prairies. Presently, I do some vegetation consulting, speaking, serve on the board of trustees of the Iowa chapter of The Nature Conservancy, and am a member of the Iowa Natural Resource Commission which sets policy for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
