In my work I have used transparencies to overcome limitations of space and time. By constructing palimpsests, I can create a unified juxtaposition of the American and the European structures. In the paintings I use a series of layers of plastic wrap which is both a metonym of our culture and has a resemblance to the old European oil glazing techniques of Titian and Van Eyck On the works on paper I use the the traditional techniques of pen, ink and graphite, coupled with transparencies constructed with Adobe Photoshop.
